Module 2
Could a trial be right for me?
Who trials are really for, when to start looking (earlier than most people think), and what eligibility and biomarkers actually mean for you.
By the end of this module, you'll know whether — and when — a trial is worth exploring for your situation, and what makes someone a fit.
A common myth is that trials are only for people who have “run out of options.” The truth is the opposite: some of the best moments to consider a trial come early. This module helps you see where you might fit.
- 1 Who are clinical trials for? Undo the "trials are only for the desperate" myth and show that trials exist for many cancer types, stages, and situations. 4 min
- 2 When should you look at trials? Shift the timing mindset — consider trials early and at every decision point, not only after standard options run out. 4 min
- 3 What are eligibility criteria? Explain inclusion and exclusion criteria in plain terms, why they exist, and that not qualifying says nothing about you. 5 min
- 4 What are biomarkers, and why do they matter? Explain biomarkers in plain terms and show how biomarker testing can open doors to targeted trials worth asking your team about. 4 min
- 5 What if I don't know all the details yet? Reassure patients that they do not need every detail to start exploring — I am not sure is a valid answer, and screening helps clarify fit. 3 min
